UCoat

Waterbased Epoxy
UCoat Epoxy Floor Coatings Base and Advanced

UCoat is a two component commercial grade water based epoxy coating that exhibits excellent characteristics that rival solvent based products. UCoat has superb chemical resistance, abrasion resistance, and substrate penetration. Being industrial quality, it is just as durable, or more so, than most solvent based epoxies. UCoat is also moisture insensitive, there is no drying time needed after cleaning and preparing the concrete floor. UCoat is roller applied directly to a wet-damp surface to achieve permanent adhesion. Part C, the co-plastimer additive in the bond coat, allows UCoat to flow and dry at the proper rate, penetrating the porous concrete or wood floor and permanently bonding to the substrate.

Advantages:

  • Odor Free/Non Flammable
  • Comfortable Working Times
  • Available in Several Colors
  • Good Chemical Resistance

Application Steps

Mixing

UCoat has a mix ratio of 4 parts B(Base) to 1 part A(Activator) and 1 part C(Co-plastimer). Product packaging is pre-measured and should be mixed as supplied.  After combining these three parts, mix well with a paint paddle until the material is thoroughly mixed and streak free.  Improper mixing may result in product failure.

Application

For application of the UCoat a lint free 1/2″ nap roller cover should be used (included in the UCoat Kit). The material is now ready to be applied to a damp-wet substrate with no standing puddles.  Use a paint roller to spread UCoat in an even M&W pattern. Maintain temperatures within the recommended ranges during the application and curing process. Apply material with relative humidity within the parameters shown on the technical data.

Recoating

If you recoat or topcoat this product, you must first be sure that all of the solvents and water have evaporated from the coating during the curing process it is best to test the coating before recoating or topcoating. This can be done by pressing on the coating with your thumb to verify that no fingerprint impression is left. If no impression is created, then the recoat or topcoat can be started. Always remember that colder temperatures will require more cure time for the product before recoating or topcoating can commence.  Before recoating or topcoating, check the coating to ensure no epoxy blushes were developed (a whitish, greasy film, or deglossing). If a blush is present, it must be removed prior to topcoating or recoating. A standard type detergent cleaner such as UDegrease or UClean can be used to remove any blush.

Topcoating

Two coats of UCoat is recommended if a fill coat or topcoat is not applied.  Can be used as a standalone system or topcoated.  UGlossUGloss-AF, UClad-LVUGlaze or UGlaze-SB products are suitable as topcoats.
